Hey lovelies,
Random question for a title right! Well it’s part of the theme for this article – you’ll understand soon enough. Not to sound ancient but I remember when Instagram was used literally – instant sharing of photos – that meant the random coffee or the sunset, right as they were being experienced. As compared to nowadays when there’s an unspoken expectation of a form of production for every single post.
I reckon the high effort that goes into putting out a socially acceptable post each time has actually ousted the very people who Instagram was created for initially – so many people barely post on their feeds and are relegated to IG stories as that still has a semblance of the original Instagram that got us all signed up in the first place.
But we should fight back! We have a right to be our authentic selves, not filtered and Facetuned till the point of almost no recognition.
You see even this post, it’s me fighting against perfectionism. I stopped writing weekly like I used to for so many years – initially because I was going through some trauma but after it subsided my consistency hasn’t returned to what it was – because I was overthinking it and it turned to only posting when it felt “right” or important enough.
So here’s to shunning overthinking and embracing freedom!
Till next time,
Dr ETK aka Mummy N ❤️
