There are people who come to your life just like Christmas, they sweep by once in a while and leave you brighter than they met you, but you only see them in one very very blue moon and you understand, that’s just their nature.
There are people who feel just like ice cream, they touch you with that cool, soft whisper of sweetness the reaches down to light up the darkest of moods and when they’re gone, they leave you craving and wanting more, but too much sweetness makes your tummy ache so you gotta lay off them even if you really don’t want to.
There are people who are the sweetest of melodies, the most effusive of symphonies, they’ll walk into your life as gloriously as they’ll walk out of it, they’ll sweep you off your feet and have you spellbound the whole time, not knowing if to laugh or cry.
There are people who light up your world like summer, they air out your dull damp life with fun and a splash of color, you always feel warm and fuzzy with these ones.
Then there are people who are just like daylilies, they will stay grounded, they will be there at every stage of your growth no matter how much of a pest you are, they can be your artemisia, bitter but medicinal, your dose of reality when it’s necessary for them to be, these are the ones that grow on you, with you and for you, how lucky you are to have these precious ones in your life!
Then there are dandelions, useless little yellow flowers, they grow pushing out whatever useful plant you’re trying to plant, sap you of your nutrients and never leave anything for you in return.
There are people who are fire, so alluring yet so dangerous, if you get close enough you’ll feel their radiating warmth all over you, don’t let them suck you in though, there nothing waiting there for you but abyss.
And then there are people like the freezing winter, they make your insides icy and it’s like you’ll never get warm again.
