Reasons For Understanding Your Wife:
Aside from the fact that the Scripture commands you to love your wife and live with her as Christ loves the Church, the other reason why you should seek to understand your wife is so you can have a peaceful, loving, joyous and successful marriage here on earth. Therefore, everything you do, every sacrifice you make should be geared towards accomplishing this objective. It will be tumultuous and acrimonious not to have understanding in the home. Little, insignificant things can lead to serious conflicts between you and your wife.
It is often said that wives determine the atmosphere and spirit of a home. This is indeed a fact!
When a woman is happy it reflects in the home. It’s like a pungent perfume that influences everything around it. It dictates the atmosphere of the home and sets a pace towards positivity. But if it is the other way round, your guess is as good as mine. When a woman knows she is loved and appreciated, you can’t imagine the measure of joy and happiness it will bring to her, and by extension to your home, and the length she’d go for you. But when she is taken for granted, you are definitely courting different sorts of unpleasantness. As a matter-of-fact, the Holy Spirit stated that this could pose a hindrance to answered prayers.
“Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honour unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered.”
1 Peter 3:7 KJV
“In the same way, you husbands, live with your wives in an understanding way [with great gentleness and tact, and with an intelligent regard for the marriage relationship], as with someone physically weaker, since she is a woman. Show her honor and respect as a fellow heir of the grace of life, so that your prayers will not be hindered or ineffective.”
