Hey people,
I’m starting with a verse of the scriptures which says;
“And he said unto me, My Grace is sufficient for thee: for my strength is made perfect in weakness” (2 Corinth 12:9a)
Mummy scolded me one morning, “Fisayo learn to control your temper”. This happened after she had called me to ask, why I didn’t join her errand girl to clean the house that morning. The story behind the whole incident was that, I offered to help her but she declined, insisting that she would do it all by herself, and my busy self left her.
Mom on the other hand, thought probably I was reluctant to help the girl with her chores because it wasn’t my duty, got upset and as some of us know “Yoruba mothers” (lol) she called me for questioning. Immediately I got angry, that couldn’t this girl have told mummy I offered to help, but she declined? So I left for where she was and questioned her also out of anger, as I was about to leave the room, mom walked in and scolded me for not being able to control my temper. I felt so bad (for questioning her) and good (for being corrected), because I later realized I acted on impulse, rather than handling it in a more controlled and mature manner.
Humans are all flawed differently and uniquely – weaknesses like impatience, anger, pride, addictions, bitterness and lots more; but the question is are we ready to submit to God’s Grace, are we teachable, correctable and ready to improve gradually? I must confess corrections are not easy to accept, especially for people with a particular temperament.
The answer to our weaknesses is total submission to God first for his Grace, because God’s grace helps us to see through our little weaknesses, therefore breaking and making us perfect. God created us He understands us first, He has the power to grant us the fruits of the spirit as Christians if we desire them, after which changes are made manifest in the physical. Thereby making us perfect despite our Weakness. Thank you Jesus because your Grace is ever sufficient!!!
