This was the first international day that I worked on in my first official IFMSA Role – Program Coordinator for Gender Based Violence. When I applied for the role, I had many motivators – some of which were lived experiences, so when I see the advocacy around this day each year, I’m really glad that the cloak of secrecy is being shorn gradually.
Gender based violence is basically when any form of violence is perpetuated based solely on the victim’s gender. Don’t let your mind go as far as physical harassment – those unwanted “compliments” also count.
The Orange Your World, 16 days of advocacy against gender based violence kickstarts on the 25th of November and carries through till early December – so I implore you to share some of the graphics on your social media platforms and help raise awareness!
Together we can kickback against the seeming “normalcy” that violence against women has been portrayed to be in various communities around the world. It’s a mindset and behavioral change we’re after so it won’t do to just have one day, we need to persist! Here are a few graphics for you to share with you platforms:

I look forward to seeing your participation! Let’s criminalize this evil act at the community level – a step at a time, we’ll get there!
Till next time,
Dr. ETP xo
