Modest dressing too easily slouches into appearing lackadaisical about one’s appearance; believe me I know. I’m here to tell you that there are ways to still look good whilst covered up; this was one of the primary reasons behind my blog’s tagline “modesty is the mantra”.
So onto today’s post, my friend and this post’s photographer, Modupe Ojelabi, gifted me with this skirt on my birthday and I fell in love with it immediately. The texture, shape, length, style – everything! It hits my mid calf and so naturally can be quite an unflattering length – but what’s an easy way to counter this? Skinny strap heels of course!
The thin strap of the heel adds to the lengthening effect on your legs, reducing the chances of your legs looking stocky beneath the hem of your skirt – helping you achieve that classic lady look.
I decided to pair this lovely skirt with a sheer white shirt that had gold accentuates, which subtly matched the golden heel; I love gentle signs of thoughtfulness, especially in fashion.
