What then can be done about these destructive plagues that stand in the way of having God’s best in marriage? “Flee also youthful lusts….” (2 Timothy 2:22). Whether or not you are married, the Bible expressly commands you must keep away from lusts of the eyes and of the flesh. How do you flee youthful lusts? First of all you cannot flee youthful lusts as a sinner. So, the first thing you must do is get saved! 2 Corinthians 5:17 affirms that the moment you get saved, your life, your home, indeed, everything will be changed.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is Love, Joy, Peace, Longsuffering, Gentleness, Goodness, Faith, Meekness, Temperance: against such there is no law.”
Galatians 5:22-23 KJV
You sure need the fruit of the Spirit to make your marriage a grand success.
When you have God as the Head of your home, there’ll be love in the home. The joy of the LORD will be the strength of your marriage. The peace of God in your hearts will not be disturbed by any circumstance (austerity, unemployment, etc.) Long suffering will promote patience for one another in the home. Gentleness makes the husband kind to his wife and the wife considerate of the husband’s weakness. Goodness enhances mutual caring and sharing in love. Faith in God and faithfulness to your partner makes the relationship stronger.
Marriage is actually simpler than most people think when the fruit of the Spirit is fully at work in the lives of the couples.
