Each year the International Day of Peace is observed around the world on 21 September. The United Nations General Assembly has declared this as a day devoted to strengthening the ideals of peace, both within and among all nations and peoples.
The theme for 2017 is “Together for Peace: Respect, Safety and Dignity for All.”
The IFMSA Standing Committee on Human Rights and Peace (SCORP) understands peace as both the absence of conflict (negative peace) and the presence of equality and harmony (positive peace).
This activity was therefore created with the purpose of getting a representative amount of the African SCORP Members (SCORPions) to describe what peace means to them via a creative photo campaign with a short caption.
We invite you to enjoy our personal definitions of peace!
