Hey loviesss!
First of all, isn’t my KitKat just the cutest? Katherine is my 6 year old, half Nigerian, quarter Portuguese and quarter Cape Verdean cousin – who is growing up so beautifully!
But as cute as she is, today’s blog post isn’t solely about her lol. She came to visit me during half term and as she had been practicing with her own play stethoscope at home, she was really excited to use a real one haha.

When she told me she wanted to be a doctor just like me I couldn’t help but smile; but I remember being so frustrated whilst in med school and declaring that no loved one of mine would go through what I went through lol. But in that moment, all I could see was pride in her eyes and ambition. So I did what any loving older cousin would do – I encouraged her and told her she could be whatever she wanted to be, because quite frankly, she can!

I know I sometimes don’t like the pressure of being a role model to people especially the ones I don’t even know that make all sorts of demands based on a pedestal I didn’t ask them for, but for my family, for the people I love, it’s an honor and I wear it as a badge of glory. If they need one person in their life that’s doing something they hope to do in future, and if that person can make their dreams seem feasible and achievable – then I’m proud to be that person.
Till next time,
Dr. ETP xo
