Last weekend was a blast guys! I didn’t think I’d ever write about Ibadan as a travel post as that’s where my family home is haha, but a turn of events led to Ibadan being a travel destination for my friends and I.
So what was happening was the celebration of my room mate of a couple years, Modupe Ojelabi’s 21st birthday! We’re currently on rural community medicine posting in Ejigbo, Osun state, which isn’t far from Ibadan, just about 1 hour and 30 mins away, so we planned a weekend getaway!
Her birthday itself was on Friday the 14th of July which was our takeoff day, we arrived in Ibadan at around 5pm and rested a little, unpacked and went out for dinner at KFC in Palms Mall, Ring Road. Everyone ate their fill and we headed home for a blissful night’s rest.
The next morning we had breakfast which was delicious spaghettini made by our spaghetti pro Modupe (we brought our own foodstuffs and ingredients along with us from Ejigbo) then got dressed and had a mini photo shoot before going to Ventura mall to start the day. I was the photographer for the day but I have to give credit to my sister Joyce because she’s the one that told me what settings to use haha.
Over at Ventura, we made our dinner reservations at Kabachi then went to the games arcade and tried our hands at bowling, which Omowunmi won! We played other games at the arcade like the dance master, virtual motorcycling and air hockey and the competitive spirit that resides in all medical students came out Lool. It was super fun and there were lots of memorable moments including when Modupe came eighth on the motorcycle game and was proud of herself only for a young man of like 7 years of age to come and say “8?! And you’re happy?” In all seriousness loool.
So next we took over the bathroom nearest to the arcade to get dinner ready but of course we took selfies as expected when a bunch of fine girls see a full length mirror haha.
Now to our main event of the day; dinner at Kabachi Chinese Restaurant!
Whilst waiting for the birthday girl to finish getting dressed I began the photo sessions of all the guests and here are the lovely ladies:
As we had pre-ordered, we didn’t have to wait up to 15 minutes for our starters to come and they were delicious!
Then the main dinner came on a sizzling tray that had all of us salivating:
We had a lovely night filled with beautiful conversations about memories experienced with Modupe, and more memories were made in the process. After dinner we cut the birthday cake then headed upstairs to catch the last movie -Spider-Man: Homecoming which was funny and watching Zendaya on the big screen was definitely a plus (word to Bidemi haha).
Just before returning back to the village we had to have one more taste of enjoyment and made a stop at Dominos & Coldstone:
All in all we had a blissful time and I’d suggest you all visit Ventura mall when next you’re in Ibadan!
