That’s right my people; I gave a good first attempt at surfing! To be honest, I have tried once before in Lagos, but I didn’t have any idea how it went or even a life guard so that attempt was very short lived lol.
This time around, I was walking along the beach here in Scarborough and I saw a couple people surfing. I couldn’t believe my eyes, surfing in this England? I asked a friendly looking stranger for where the surf boards were obtained and he pointed me to Steve’s surf shop “Fluid Concept”. I had a quick conversation with Steve about what to bring and decided I must do this!
Fast forward a few weeks and Joyce is around visiting so I thought this was the perfect time to go back to the beach and try surfing. However, the waves were pretty tame so the instructor was like he wouldn’t suggest it and couldn’t give us a lesson; but he did show us the basics and we watched a YouTube video lol and off to the waves we went! I’m a huge fan of living in the moment and making the most of experiences, it keeps you alive you know? Anyways have a look at how it went – photos captured by Joyce Peters of course!
