Guyssss! For the first time since 2017, my siblings and I went on vacation together! In fact, as our 2017 trip was technically a working trip since we were representing Nigeria at the UN Youth Assembly in New York City (NYC); I’d say this trip was our first vacation together (without our parents) – and it was amazing!
My dad had gotten the family tickets to NYC for March 2020 as we had a wedding to attend but as we all know, that was when the global pandemic took full swing and so we had to change the tickets and we thought, we’ve never been to the South American continent, let’s pick a destination there – and that’s how we selected Cancun lol. Not like we saw people going there beforehand, we basically spun the proverbial globe and selected it – and I’m so glad we did!
We decided on an Airbnb that is located inside an all-inclusive resort as it allowed us to save on the cost of accommodation but still allow us to use the resort’s facilities – best of both worlds in my opinion! Our host Augustin was a total gem, readily available to help us out like how we all forgot to pack electrical adaptors lolll and he brought one up for us at no added charge!
One thing I loved so much was the view of the ocean from the window; watching the sunrise at 6am (as we were jet lagged practically all through the trip lol, 5 hour time difference from the UK) was such a treat each day!
So after a blissful (but long) trip through the US into Mexico we rested up and prepped for our first full day of the vacation – my birthday!
After a delicious buffet breakfast at the resort, we got dressed for our day at Xtreme Adventure – and extreme it was! We did quad biking, cenote diving and zip lining in that order and it was fantastic!
After a full day we got some food and headed back to the hotel and crashed out till the next day lol.
Day 2:
I decided we would benefit from a chill day right after that adrenaline pumping day one so we had a Catamaran cruise to an island called Isla Mujeres that had the Playa de Norte (North Beach) – it was a breathtakingly beautiful beach!
On our cruise the host collectively called my siblings and I “London” so whenever someone wanted to pass us something they’d all just say “here you go London” and it was hilarious!
I don’t like my posts being too long so I shall continue with part 2 in the next blogpost – stay tuned!
Till next time,
Dr. ETP xo
