Hey everyone! On twitter (@DrETPeters) a lot of my followers refer to me as the Minister of Enjoyment/Queen of Chop Life Gang because I like to explore places in Lagos lol, it’s a vibrant city and I don’t know how long I’ll be here – might as well enjoy it, right?
So, because of this, many people ask me for where I would advise them to go to chill out, based on where I’ve been, hence where the idea of this post was birthed from.
Side note: This is not an ad, neither is it the be all and end all of all the good places to visit in Lagos, it’s merely a miniature list based on a budget of N10,000 or less where one can have a good time in this bubbling city.
Are we on the same page now? If yes, please proceed to the list, which is in no particular order (laughs at the numerous clauses I’ve put so far, someone once told me I should’ve studied law/politics because of this same thing haha):
1.R & A Buffet
Location: 52 Ogunlana Drive, Surulere
Price: Buffet starts at N2000, with meats charged aside the buffet but within a range of 500-800 per piece.
This place is such a great place for groups, where you can challenge each other to actually finish more than one plate – the buffet includes swallows such as semovita and eba; when I went with my friends none of us, not even the guys could finish more than one plate.
The guys actually finished their food; Dami and I struggled to 3/4 😂
The wifi didn’t work when I was there but heck, we were all focused on our food so whatever lol.

Food is delicious, it’s a small venue and the décor is quite busy, but it’s definitely a place to visit as buffet restaurants are very, very rare in Nigeria (for obvious reasons lool)

2.Nigeria Ultimate Paintball
Location: Ziggies, Basheer Shittu Street, Magodo Phase 2
Price: Paintballing costs N4000 per person N1000 for extra 50 pellets (you get 50 to start with)
This was my first paintballing experience in Nigeria and I loved it! The sport is active and you get to feel like a secret agent in a movie for a little while haha. I checked their page on Instagram @NigeriaPaintball and I see they’ve added an Escape Room – which is something I want to do (not for the claustrophobic, please take caution). The escape room costs N3500 per person. There are affordable drinks and food options there too.

3.Tarkwa Bay Beach
Location: As the name implies lol
Price: N200 Gate fee, cost of rented table and chairs negotiable but averagely 1000-1500, boat from CMS to Tarkwa Bay: N500 per person
Tarkwa Bay is presently my favourite beach in Lagos as I have so many pleasant memories from there. It’s a serene environment, the shore is long, there are huts where you can buy food and drinks from as well as locals that will sell coconuts and crack it open it for you right there and then.
Things to do for day visits include learning how to surf, which goes for 7000 per person for a crash course, you could bring a football and play beach soccer, or you could just bring a book and read it with the ocean’s waves crashing as a natural soundtrack.

4.ATV World Quad Bike (@atv.world.lagos on Instagram)
Location: Water Corporation Drive, Down the street from Landmark Event Centre, Victoria Island.
Price: 1 track lap N3000, 2 track laps N4000, but my best advice is to do the 25 minute beach ride for N6000, best value for money.
Beaches are one of my favourite things about Lagos so when I heard there’s a quadbiking company that lets you speed along the Lagos shore, I jumped at it! It’s super fun, you get a chance to race your friends, take amazing photos and videos, try out stunts like making a perfect figure of 8 in the sand…it was a really enjoyable experience, I highly recommend it.

5.Bogobiri House (@bogobirihouse on Instagram)
Location: 9, Maitama Sule Street, Ikoyi, Lagos, Nigeria
Price: N500 entry fee on Thursday music nights
Don’t think I can count how many times I’ve been here, it always has me coming back! Thursday nights are music specials, kind of like Open Mic and different acts perform either known or original pieces, the live band is super talented, and it’s 8pm every Thursday –it gets filled up really quickly and people actually stay and stand through performances – its that good! Food and drinks are also available for purchase and they’re of good quality. The vibe is what makes Bogobiri so loveable, many people come from work as it’s a great place to let off some steam.
