We have probably heard this statement “Cleanness is next to godliness”, that’s not in the Bible. However, I want us to examine this phrase in another light through scripture establishing how darkness is dealt with in God and how we “the House” of God are cleaned inside out. Firstly, we have to believe that you are the house of God. Hebrews 3:6 says “but Christ as a Son over His own House, who’s House we are if we hold fast to the confidence and the rejoicing of the hope firm to the end”. So we see that if we hold fast to the confidence we have of Jesus we are the house of God.
So back to cleaning, Jesus said that “for God so loved the world that he gave His only begotten son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him may be saved. He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God. And this is the condemnation, that the light has come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil. For everyone practicing evil hates the light and does not come to the light, lest his deeds should be exposed. But he who does the truth comes to the light, that his deeds may be clearly seen, THAT THEY HAVE BEEN DONE IN GOD”. (John 3:16-21) We see from the very last statement that every person who comes to the light in truth relinquishes the secrecy of darkness in his works, as his works will be dealt with in God. God indeed does clean His House. This scripture also depicts that the house (we, the believers) has no ability to clean itself but it can only be transformed upon sufficient dealing with the Spirit of God.
However, the amazing thing is that God will not deal with (work on) any area of your life that you refuse to submit to Him. He will however make you an offer to submit such area to be done with. The reason it seems God deals with certain works is that they are like objects in a room which give room for a shadow, so God needs to deal with them so they do not become an avenue or a stronghold of operation by the devil.
What is that thing God is asking you to give up today? Is it a relationship that keeps leading you into sexual immorality, yes even kissing, or a friend that gingers you to take drugs, or even simple habits or excesses that lead you to sin? God is asking you to lay that thing before Him today, and to do away with it from today henceforth by the strength he makes available. Submit yourself to God, Resist the devil and He will flee.
Hallelujah
