Happy new year my lovelies!!
I am so glad to see in 2025, last year I experienced God in miraculous ways in every sector of my life. It was also the first year in my adult consciousness that I didn’t set out with any resolutions, I was pretty happy with how my life was and just said God take the wheel – and that He did!! I can’t even begin to reel out the testimonies in this post but even just looking at the ones I shared on this blog should tell you I had a great 2024 – but this year I’m taking it up a notch by strengthening my walk with God.
This decision to make my walk with God more intentional came to me around October last year – nothing significant happened in my life; I just found myself yearning for more of God. So I prayed about it in my heart; didn’t even say it out loud and trusted God to answer. Within a few weeks I felt His spirit fall on me heavily during service while I was ministering with my church’s praise team – and my Bishop came over to pray with me and reaffirmed that God said that He is drawing me closer to Him just like I had asked. A prayer that didn’t even leave my lips? I was pleasantly stunned and grateful beyond words for such a profound answer.
First thing I did to action this desire was purchase a study bible. I had my eyes on “She Reads Truth” Bible as I had seen it recommended on my friend’s IG story and it hit me as the sort of Bible that would deepen my understanding of God and boy has it been amazing! I didn’t wait till the new year to open it because as a popular proverb from my people says “whenever you wake up, that is your morning” – so I started reading it just as the desire pushed me to.
Then my friend reached out to me about a Christian journal she had called the “Keep Moving Journal” that had changed how she did her personal Bible study time and I knew it was God again because this surely wasn’t a coincidence that right after I started making changes to effectively study the Word of God, more aids and support came to me unprovoked! So I got the journal and I suggest you do too! It has scriptures on every page’s footer, has sections for plans, word puzzles, devotions, testimonies and much more. Definitely a great companion for Bible study time.
Lastly, I came across the Bible Recap plan on the youversion Bible app – I’ve completed a Bible in one year plan several times over so I wanted a new plan that helped me read the whole Bible, but also helps me to understand God more deeply than I ever did – just three days into the plan and I’m writing furiously into my journal and here because wow, I’ve uncovered so much information from the same Bible I’ve always read! It’s exciting and the Word feel very alive in my hands. Having a Bible on my phone is great but it doesn’t quite match reading the text off the physical page for me so going back to having the Bible physically has been a beautiful shift.
So I encourage you today to take charge of your relationship with God today. Knowing Him means you get to find yourself in Him, find out why you exist and what you’re meant to do. All the answers are in Jesus – draw closer!
