Hi lovelies!
It’s almost the Easter weekend and I am so glad to reminisce on the beautiful, timeless sacrifice that our Lord Jesus made for us on that cross all those years ago. It’s amazing that the world over gets a chance to reflect on this beauty and hopefully feel His embrace as we are reminded of all the pain that was experienced in our place – so that we can be free from sin. What a loving God we serve!
Knowing I’m free and forgiven gives me space to think about my tomorrow. There was a time in my teenage life when I kind of didn’t want to continue living – I wasn’t suicidal – I just figured if I died in my sleep after confessing my sins, then I couldn’t mistakenly sin tomorrow and be at risk of dying before getting a chance to confess – and then going to hell. I mean, that’s what I was taught for so long until I learnt all about grace and how I’m not weighed down by my sin because Jesus paid for it ALL that day – the Bible says in Hebrews 11:9 “And by that will, we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.”
ONCE. FOR. ALL.
My forgiveness has been provided for in that one time sacrifice – it isn’t dependent on my daily confessions. When I finally realized this, it was like such a huge weight was lifted off my shoulders. Do I still confess my sins, yes, because when you upset someone that you love, you’re supposed to acknowledge your wrongdoing and apologize – and as I love Jesus I do that. But that’s because I love Him – not because I’m scared of going to hell if I don’t do it.
Perspective really changed for me, and I felt a whole lot happier and closer to God as a result.
I hope you enjoy this Easter break knowing that you are forgiven and loved eternally by God.
Happy Easter my loves xo
